Yes it's worth it. I picked up 3 mph and almost 3/10's over the Blacking.

I have the Vararam on my car and I like it. I believe that it has given me a nice performance boost. But I doubt very seroiusly if it has give me 40 more HP, IMHO it is a worth while mod.

Does anyone run their car in the rain or through puddles with the vara ram. I heard they may stall the car because they are susesible to taking in water.

You certainly need to avoid deep water, but rain should be no problem. It does seem a little scary to me using those front holes for air, because if you really hit something deep, you be nose first and sucking a ton of water into the engine. The Vortex actually sits a little higher than the Vararam, with a lest direct route for the water to travel. If the puddle is deep enough, either one can give you hydrolock.

Re: vararam vr-1b system??? (C5 StockSwap)
Vararam is the best at getting cold air into the intake. 40HP worth? No way. But enough to make it worthwhile. Just have to use common sense when it comes to deep water ... stay away from it!!!

It's not as bad as the bottom breathers but the risk exists.
I've been hearing talk about vapor lock being an issue with the Vararam, though.

I think their claimed horsepower rating comes from the old saying ".1 seconds = 10 hp". I have one and picked up over .3 in the quarter. In theory, thats like having "30" extra hp, supposedly. You gotta remember that it is designed to make even more power at speads over 65 mph.
Great system though. Woke my A4s second gear up.

That's what I thought. I didn't get it and it wasn't explained.

I have the Vararam intake on my 98 A4. There was a noticeable increase in performance. It is absolutely worth the money.
