Replacing battery and memory?
If you are replacing the battery, what would be the down side, if any, to clipping a small 12 volt battery the the battery cables before you remove them to keep power on the computer and other stuff while the battery is out.

There is no reason to do this. Your stereo settings will still be there. The only thing you will have to do is relearn the key fobs which only take about 2 minutes.

I saw an ad for a 9volt battery plugged into the cig. lighter jack. Don't know how long the radio/pcm/memory will last on the battery, or if its even worth the trouble. I had mine off for 20 min. without any power and didn't even have to relearn the fobs.... :cheers:

Maybe it depends on how long you take to change the battery.
I just removed mine to clean the terminals, tray, torque the bolts, etc. Had the battery out for about 20 mins. All memory settings were fine except for:
Clock Time on radio
DIC Avg Fuel Mileage
DIC Avg Speed
