Default LS1/LS6 difference

Exactly what is different mechanically between a 2002 LS1 and a 2002 LS6?

Here is what I understand so far. Different camshaft. Sodium filled pushrods. Different valvetrain. I don't know if the pistons or rods are different or not.

Since the block, heads and intake are the same for 02 what items would be necessary to make it an LS6?

After late 2001 the blocks are the same....you have the LS6 block and intake. The cam, heads (inc valves that weigh 2/3's as much), valley breather (pcv), and pistons are different. Many topics like this can be found in a search of prior common questions. Changing to LS6 heads and a decent cam will wake up your car. The PCV conversion will help oil consumption. Your clutch is the same as the 2001 ZO6 clutch.

I bought a set of Z06 Heads for my car. Am contemplating camshafts now. The one question I can't seem to resolve is pushrod lengths. I know my 2002 intaks is LS6 and the block is LS6. I think the 2001 Z06 is not a sodium filled valve but the 2002+ are sodium filled, lighter valves. From what I have been able to gather so far...the only engine differences between my car (2002) and a Z06 is the heads/cam. I know the valve springs are different but am not sure about the pushrods and valves in my car being different from the 2001 Z06. The Z06 Head I bought came off a 2001 Z06 so I am thinking the valves and pushrods might be the same. But I am investigating this myself. You can find broad differences but when you get into specifics like pushrod lengh and rocker arm ratios and valve materials ... not much info to be found there.

The '01 LS6 valve train is the same as the LS1 except for the springs. This includes lifters, pushrods, rocker arms (1.7 ratio), and valves. The '02 LS6 valve train uses different springs from the '01 and the valves besides being lighter are a bit longer to compensate for the smaller base circle of the cam. I believe the rest of the '02 valve train is the same, including pushrods, but I can't swear to it because my parts book only goes through 2001
