Re: does lowering reduce traction (master blaster)
You lower the car, the suspension gets stiffer. It doesn't necessarily handle better and certainly a stiff car is going to blow the tires quicker. A DRAG car needs to be able to load the tire, therefore a stiffer suspension will induce even less flex in the suspension and viola, you'll blow the tires easier.
Also, I would wonder what mucking up the camber will do to traction as well from lowering.
Re: does lowering reduce traction (master blaster)
Certainly possible.
While you aren't changing the spring rate by lowering, you are lessening the the amount of suspension travel. When you launch hard, the rear end squats down, and this weight transfer is a big factor in traction. If you really slam the car (particularily the rear), you are reducing that amount of "squat" and weight transfer, and thus lessening launch traction.

Re: does lowering reduce traction (Y2Kvert4me)
did he get it aligned after lowering???
many people don't bother but if you want the best rear wheel traction for straight line or lateral handling you must realign. by lowering it you change the suspension geometry and the tire loses contact patch area as camber increases. you get the contact patch back by realigning and getting the tire tread back in full contact with the ground.
