Help, Car wount start Error code U1160, U1176

got these codes, does anyone know what they are , and how to fix?

Did a search what the heck is a RFA and DDM? :banghead: :banghead:

Car wount start, battery has 14V, car wount even turn over.

The U1160 and U1176 codes respectively refer to serial data link communication problems with the Driver Door Module (DDM) and the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). RFA refers to Remote Function Actuation, like your door locks or tire sensors.

It might be that these communication problems are being interpreted by the Body Control Module (BCM) as a vehicle theft attempt. The BMC can disable the starter, etc. Just a guess. Would probably require access to a scan tool to resolve. Corosion, loose connectors, damaged wiring harness, or damaged modules could cause these communication faults. Sounds like the starter is being disabled on purpose (as opposed to a starter problem). The first step would be to resolve the communication problem(s).

Just a thought. Would disconnecting the Battery for awhile reset things???

Those are incidental communications errors. They appear in all car's memory. You may disregard them.

Check your battery connections. Do you have a Delco? Has it leaked? Your battery could be bad in spite of the 14V, how did you accertain that reading? :cheers:

a fellow tuner suggested I get a scan tool. I just readthe codes from the dash. He said I probably have a 1255 which is a communication error...so all I have to do is check the connections, all 4,642 of them :)

I replaced the battery 4 mo ago.....Ill try swapping batteries with my truck. I used a voltometer to get the 13.9 reading

Check your key. It sounds like you have a VATS problem. Do the dash lights and instruments all work properly when you turn the key to start? Make sure the pill is not wet, dirty or missing. If you have an intermittent problem you will need to wait 4 to 5 minutes before you can try starting the car again. If you wait less time you will reset the system timer back to maximum delay. VATS disables, spark, fuel, and starter when the wrong key or a dirty/wet key is used and will not permit another start attempt until the timer runs down.

I assume the pill is the little metal piece on the key. Come to think of it I am using my wifes keys (she went to work with my keys) I ll try my "primary keys when she gets home. Yes, everything works dash lights , driving lights, but the starter doesnt even engage. I also get a "service engine soon, low fuel...etc"
