I have a 6sp with Heads and Cam work along with LS1 edit work done ..... As I come to a stop and press in the clutch the idle only goes down to 1200 -1400 rpms' (LS1 edit has it set for 900) and only when I come to a full stop (car "rocks back" forward momentum is gone) does it seem to finally go down to 900 RPM - as I coast with the clutch in why doesn't it drop the idle down to 900? When the car just sits around it idles fine at 900 RPMs.
My throttle plate has had a hole drilled in it .... does that matter? Also does not seem to do this all the time - so I can't figure out what is going on ..... any thoughts???????
I wish I could help you. I can push my clutch in going at any speed and the idle drops to exactly 950, which is where I have it set. I wonder if the PCM is reading anything from the incoming air or if the throttle plate is not closing all the way and the throttle position sensor is holding the idle up for some reason.
In the PCM there are "Throttle Follower " tables which can be edited by LS1 Edit. Basically they adjust the Airflow Decay in gear and nuetral which determines the rate of return to idle at rest/park. By reducing these values the car/engine will drop to preset idle faster - you are in effect reducing the damping of the system.
If you think about it ..it makes sense to maintain a viable idle otherwise the car might die at 50 MPH when you push in the clutch - ....ouch! there goes the power steering and power brakes.
Here is an AWESOME explanation, in an idle thread, By NoGo on LS1Tech.com. The whole thread is of interest re: tuning. http://www.ls1tech.com/threads/showf...rue#Post662366. NoGo is a true Guru. NoGo is THE MAN :yesnod: :yesnod:  :D
