I am going to have NOS system installed on my car and I curious about the differences between wet and dry system. What is the difference? Is one better than the other? For a lightly mod car that is my daily driver which system to go with? The TNT system has been recomended by forum members, is that a wet or dry system.
A dry kit sprays before the MAF, usually the nozzles are somewhere in the air intake system. I have the NOS 5177 kit (I spray 100 HP dry shot) on my car, and this is the kit most of the F Body guys run.
Wet kits spray AFTER the MAF, usually somewhere into the air bridge. Wet kits add BOTH nitrous and fuel. Wet kits are rated at RWHP, dry kits are rated at crank HP. NX makes wet kits, TNT makes both.
I've never seen a wet kit completely hidden, but I've seen dry kits completely hidden, and that's how I have mine set up. Even on a lift you wouldn't be able to see my kit :) Don't know if that is a concern for you...
Also, with wet kits there is a puddling problem that can occur in the intake (known as nitrous backfires), as our intakes are not meant to have fuel running through it. Pretty costly if this occurs.
Dry kits are safer IMO, as you would need the MAF to go bad (never heard of that happening), an injector to go bad during the nitrous run, or the fuel pump to go out during a nitrous run (but you can run a fuel pressure safety switch that comes with the kit to shut off the system if fuel pressure drops).
For small shots up to 150 hp, go with the TNT wet kit! I used a TNT kit up until I went with a direct port system and never had any problems. I ran probably 100 bottles through my stock motor with a 150 shot. Plus I think they have the cleanest looking install, and it's very easy to install.
