Default Shifting problem from 3rd to 4th

Is it driver era or is it in the trainy or is it in the clutch?

During EXTREME hard exceleration and hard shifts (at the track) from 3rd to 4th not a power shift the shifter wont go into 4th I have to dble clutch to get it to go into 4th it seems to get hung up or blocked from the 4th gear gate or something, which of course blows my run..
I would say 2 out of three runs has been the percentage for the entire past 2 seasons.

Any body experience this and have any suggestions.

Thanx
Troy

Troy, Brent and I were both having some problems getting it into 4th last saturday night. Finally towards the end of the night the car was shifting better. I would say that if you have the stock clutch, its probably your clutch causing the problem. Same thing happened to me. Now that I have the cartek clutch and its setup right, its just a problem with the tranny sometimes getting caught up and I am hoping that when I put the stops back into my hurst shifter it will go away.

So is it safe to say that it is mechanical era as oppose to driver era?

Or perhaps a little bit if both..

still confused here?

Doubt its driver error these trannys don't shift like the old muscle cars where the trans is right behind the engine. I'm surprised Brent is having a problem after Rodney built him one of his trannys, this is another reason I may build an ls1 based Fbody over the winter and not race the C5 anymore and just have a great street car. It would appear that if you are into drag racing a built up a4 is the only way to go, tek warrior seems to have eliminated his probs with his A4 and he is pushing some unbelievable HP, Boweryboy just tore up another tranny m6 with similar power, the 6 speeds are just not designed to handle the power and the hard shifts, I guess the car is made more for road courses.

Its mechanical. I think you need a new clutch. Have you had any slippage. I know my stock one did not last long at all even when the car was stock. The problem with my car is just from all that HP the transmission is just getting destroyed. I even have the new upgraded parts from gm. However this only happend to me on maybe 2 of 8 runs i made last week.

It might be your clutch hyrdraulics too.

I had the same problem for a while and I have an aftermarket clutch. I replaced the adjustable master cylinder with a new McLeod unit and no more problems.

What did the mcleoud cost and did you use to have the same 3 to 4th experiences.

kh24 I have no slippage occuring at 6200 miles on the stock clutch with a dozen runs or so.
