I have a 99 convertible with 29,000 miles. Over the last year or so I have noticed a whine at 35-40 .....then again very pronounced at 65-70 MPH.
Could it be the tires ? The front tires are very feathered. Anyone have similar experiences with whines ? Was it bearings ? tires? Thanks Joe R.
Try to isolate a closer proximity of the sound. When you are at the 65 to 70 MPH noise turn the car left and right between lanes and see if the pitch and intensity changes. If there is a marked change it could very well be a wheel bearing.
