Default Vararam widemouth problem

I just bought and installed a vararam widemouth system...when you take out the old factory airbox there is a gromet and smog pump hose attached to it...i took it out to install the new widemouth, but my widemouth was messed up and didnt have a hole drilled for the smog pump hose to attach to it. I called vararam and they said it will not effect the car, or its performance and that all that hose does it suck air upon startup that cotains less carbon monoxide...i live in florida and there are no emissions tests here...will i need the smog hose installed or just leave it be? The car started fine upon install of filter...anything i need to do to have my computer learn the new intake flow?

No need to mess with it.Just find a good place to hang it.You do not need to do anything with it or your computer.

Some folks just put a mini-filter from the parts store on the hose and tie it down to the shroud.
