Default Remote Entry - Resync Required

My Transmitter keeps losing it's mind.

At first it wouldn't operate the door locks, so I replaced the battery and went thru the 7 sec resync. It worked... but not for long.

Next day had to resync.

It seems like after a period of a few hours it needs resyncing.

Anybody have any similar experiance or ideas?

I would hate to lay up the car at the dealer for this.

Thanks

Tom

BostonVette,
Instead of a resync, try reprogramming them. Here's the instructions;

Programming Transmitters
1. Turn the ignition to ON.
2. Turn the radio to OFF.
3. Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC warning messages.
4. Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to scroll through the
display options until the IPC display is blank.
5. Press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds.
6. Press the OPTIONS button until FOB TRAINING message is displayed.
7. Press the RESET button in order to begin the programming sequence. The
message HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB will be displayed.
8. Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first
transmitter for 15 seconds. The IPC will indicate when that transmitter is
programmed and when to proceed to the next. Repeat this procedure for
each additional transmitter or press the OPTIONS button to exit.

I had a similar problem right when my battery started to leak acid. If you don't have an AGM battery, I would check your battery ASAP.

It sounds like the battery is loosing contact with the metal battery contact. This can happen if you bent the battery contacts during battery change or if they are out of position. The battery contacts are held against the battery by pressure and slight opening of the case (such as keeping it in your pocket) may cause this to happen. Try bending the battery contact located on the circuit board out slightly. Be careful not to bend too much or the contact will break off.

Prior to bending the contact, you can try leaving the key fob out on a desk overnight and verify that it does not loose its synch.

I was thinking something along the same lines. Maybe the batteries are weak and need to be replaced? Does anyone know how long they last?

Ooops, I just read the original post a little more carefully. He did replace the batteries, so that's not it. Sorry.

Thrap 42

Thanks for the input.

I'll try that approach.

My second transmitter works fine.

Will I need to reprogram the second as you suggested?

Thanks

Had the same thing happen with my wifes transmitter the other day. It would not resync but once I did the reprogram if works just fine.

I would do this yes, when I did mine I reprogrammed my FOB as well. AFter the first one is programmed, the DIC will come up for the second FOB.

I tried the reprograming.

No change, the FOB still loses it's mind.

I'm trying the battery contacts, if that doesn't help, it's off to the dealer.

Thanks

Well I'll be dipped in Schit,

Tweaking the battery contacts worked... :yesnod:

The FOB has held it's memory overnite.

Turns out it was the curved finger contacts that connect the PCB on the other half.

Saved a trip to the dealer ;)

Thanks for the tip
