Default Questions on oil sensor

HI all,
I'm going to try to tackle this fix later today and have some questions.
-Is there anything I need to do or be aware of after disconnecting the electrical harness at the injectors(fuel spray)?
-What all NEEDS to be loosened/removed to pull the manifold forward to get at the sensor? and in what order if possible?
- Is there anything else I should know before diving in to this?

I've never done something like this with an engine, so I'm kind of leary about it. I just want to be ABSOLUTELY SURE of what to do. I've done other stuff like the pads/rotors change and other work, but never with the heart of the car, the engine! Thanks for any help or tips

Steve

best to remove the intake, since the sensor is in the rear of the block. If you dont have a LS6 intake, this will be a good time to swap. Remove the bolts that hold the intake. You will need a swival to get to the ones in the rear (under the cowl). Becareful not to kink or break the small vaccum line on the rear of the intake.

I just fixed the wire harness to mine this morning. You will also need the tool to pull the fuel lines off the the rail. Autozone sells the kit, I think they are the same type of fittings as the ford ac lines.

Go to http://www.ls1howto.com and use either the f-body intake manifold swap or the C5 LS1 to LS6 PCV conversion tutorials as a guide to show you how to remove the intake manifold. Forum member jmX created that website and it's chock full of tons of valuable info.

i'm glad you posted this. i'm getting ready to do the same thing. my biggest concern is fuel pressure. what's the best way to relieve pressure before removing the intake?

i'm swapping the oil pressure sending unit because it's reading a constant 128psi.

Ive done two of these.. you do not have to completely remove the intake or the fuel lines... just remove the intake bolts.. unclip the injector wire clips.. lift up and forward about 6 inches,, make sure you cover the openings of the two rear intakes.. you will see the goldish colored sensor ( the new sensor is an upgraded version of the oil sensor ) about two inches to the right of center on the drivers side.. ( right side facing the rear of the car.. ) also very inportant.. there is a 1/8th black plastic vacuum line which may become dislodged... it fits into an "L" shaped rubber nipple located about three inches to the left of the oil sensor.. almost center of the motor,,, If you dont reconnect this your ac doors wont work , you will have a vacuum leak and the car wont run right.. and you will hear a hiss in the cabin.
The first one I did took an hour and a half.. the second one I did took 45 minutes... from start to test drive...
