For those of you with the peeling clear targa top.... Has anyone ever stripped and had it painted gloss black? Mine has started to peel and am wondering if it can be stripped, prepped, and painted to look like the original.
Here's how I fixed the clear top on a 94 C4 I had. I bought some Novus plastic polish. It comes in 3 parts, with part 3 being the most abrasive.
I used some number 1200 grit WET sandpaper to sand off the remaining clearcoat on my top. Then I used the number 3 Novus polish, followed by number 2 to polish out the sanding scratches. The top looked brand new.
I never did get my top re-clearcoated because it looked great and didn't need it even after 2 years. You could get it re-coated at most any body shop if you wanted to.
