I'm thinking about switching out my wagon wheels ('99) for some thin spoke Y2k's. I've heard that my tire pressure sensors will not work. Exactly what has to be changed out if you go to another wheel?
no problem !
just switch the sensors from your 99 wheels to the 2000 wheels and you're good to go !
two things: 1) replace the sensor's o-rings when you do the transfer.
2) install the sensors to their original corners and you won't have to reprogram them.
Thanks guys. For some reason, I was under the impression that the sensors would have to be replaced, although now that I think about it, that doesn't make much sense! :chevy
I'm about to install some chrome ZO6 wheels on my 02 Z. While the wheels are off I want to install tire pressure sensors and need to know if there is some sort of securing band that needs to be installed on the wheel sensors. I saw a picture of a wheel and sensor and it looked like it had a band metal on it that secured the sensor in place. If it needs to be secured can you use HEAVY DUTY plastic tie wraps.
The band clamp fastening is only used and needed for custom wheels that cannot accept the sensors with the standard stem mounting.
Your Z chromies will accept the sensor stems, so you can mount them just like they come and don't need to resort to the band clamps.
Since I see you have a Z06, ff you are ordering new sensors for your wheels, be aware you will also need the sensor mounting nut, it is not included with the sensor and is sold seperately.
