spark plugs?
Do spark plugs make a difference at all? if so, which ones will give you the most giddy up and go... price is not an option... btw i don't follow the spark plug market so just fill in some choices
I went to a local auto store and viewed their monitor which rated each plug. They gave Bosch platnum +4 the highest rating, then Bosch platinum +2 the next highest, followed by NTKs.
Went with the NGK TR-55s. The plugs (copper) may not last as long as the platinum or iridium plugs, but they're easier to get, cheaper, and I changed out the plugs on my engine (stone cold) in less than an hour.
That said, I wouldn't change out the plugs for a performance reason (unless you've got a definite misfire). Sure, your car will feel better for the first half hour of driving or so, but then you'll be back to normal. Also, the original plugs that I pulled had all of their platinum pucks, the gap had just opened up from 0.055 to about 0.062, not too much.

That's really a good question. Unless you're getting some kind of misfire I'd leave them alone. I had a slight misfire at idle, and, having over 100K miles on the plugs, thought it was worth a shot.
And, at first, the idle was smooth as silk. Two days later, right back to that familiar LS-1 lope (which I personally like).
So, I wouldn't change them out unless they're telling you something, or you just want to, they're pretty easy.

I got the car with 6k miles on it...thought it would have the stock plugs but the senior citizen I bought it from put in NGK.....I swaped them for Bosch Platinum+4's.....had some misfire and my C5 Specialist suggested putting stock plugs back in....so I bought AC DELCO Prof Iridiums....hopefully idle will smooth out!
You know I have had my Y2K since May 03 and it has 19k miles (4k mine) on the original AC plugs. It runs great but for a slight wobble at idle. I have pulled the plugs and checked them they look great and are gaped at .060. Thought about changing them to try to get rid of the wobble but you guys seem to be saying that this is the nature of the beast. Is that true?
I use the NGK TR55 because I believe that copper core plugs have a broader heat range, which is nice if you race your car. The downside is that they don’t last as long as a platinum or iridium plug.
If you’re a cruiser instead of a racer and don’t like the idea of changing your plugs on a more frequent basis then go with a platinum or iridium plug when it’s time to change them out.
No spark plug will give you more power but the wrong plug for the application or a worn out one can take it away
