I finally got to give my new transgo shift kit a good test today and I will just say that If you ever like to downshift your auto YOU NEED THIS MOD. :yesnod:
Before when I would downshift my rpms would fall a good 5 to 600 rpms before it would actually downshift. Not anymore. The rpms never fall and shifts in half the time.
I've heard some people say the 1st to 2nd shift is to rough. Not mine. Under normal driving conditions you cant even tell its there. My normal shifts are actually smoother. I love to be able to control the gears. I can actually control the shifts when taking off at slower speeds.
I got a WOT run from about a 20mph roll with traction control on in 3rd. It was my car's craziest ride with t/c on for sure. It broke lose pretty good when it shift to second.
This could actually be one of the most fun I had with a new mod. I'm sure the other little mods helped too.
Cant wait to put the headers and xpipe with a new tune.
I said I'm finishing modding for the year. Oops, I need one more thing. TIRES  Goodbye runflats :seeya The dry road is starting to feel like its wet with just a couple of bolt ons..
Oh I forgot to mention... I'm running 2 spacers and had a billet servo installed with the aluminum pistons instead of the plastic ones with the kit.
Big thanks to VSTELLA for all the heads up extras Thanks you deserve some cold beers for that one
Re: Another happy Transgo customer.... (BayouVette)
:iagree:
Got my on the road last night. Finally 'chirped' 2nd for 1st time since getting Pilot Sports on. I'll post my impressions later.
C   L mod; nothing like the shift kits my friends had in their 60's-70's Camaros back in high school! Much more refined. I've got 2 shims and the vette servo (which didn't appear different than the stock one). Thinking the 3rd shim might have to go in soon!!!
BTW, what plastic pistons are you referring to? Mine didn't have any plastic that I recall. Did the install myself :D
Tell ya what, without the instruction sheet, video, AND my GM service manuals, I don't think I could have done it myself. I almost set up a TV in my garage since there was so much info on the video not included on the instruction sheet. And when you take an accumulator piston out and KNOW which directions the 'fingers' were when it came out, and the instruction sheet and video show it going in the OPPOSITE WAY  .... AND it's late Saturday and no one's answering the help line, you wish there was a little more detail/warning on the instruction sheet. But shoot, just figured it couldn't be wrong if it showed it that way on the sheet AND in the video. There were a few other points, and I may call them about it for mental peace, but I don't regret it a bit.
Took me @ 15-20 hours to do the job (cleaning the darn pan gasket off almost took an hour!) since it was my first time, but I could easily cut that in half the second time and get it down to 5 or 6 hours the third time. Beware if you attempt it yourself....have help!! That servo is a tough bugger to replace :boxing
Well, time to leave work and catch some 2nd's :hurray:
