I just got my car back fron mthe dealer (TRANNY REBUILD). I am now experiencing problem getting the car into reverse. It actualy takes two hands to force it in. My DIC has a code P0801 reverse lockout solenoid malfunction.
I really don't want to lose the car to the dealer again. I would like to double check that it's plugged in, but have no idea which one is the RL solenoid.
The reverse lock out solenoid is located on the top of the trans. You can reach it easily if you have the car on a lift. Make sure that your shifter/shaft if properly adjusted. I had this problem and it was a simple adjustment. To check if the shifter is adjusted properly, remove the console boot so that you can see the shifter and the box it is mounted in. There is an 'L' shaped pin located at there front of the shifter box. With the shifter in neutral this pin can be pushed down to lock everything in neutral. If the pin will not go down, your box is not adjusted properly. Loosen the clamp at the rear of the shifter box that clamps the shifter shaft going to the rear. Work the 'L' shaped pin down to establish the proper neutral position and then tighten the shaft clamp. This will result in reverse shifting per factory specs.. Don't forget to slide the pin into the up position before you reassemble the shifter and console...

I had the same problem once, It was the reverse lockout solenoid not being plugged in all the way, check that first.
