Default Column Lock

This weekend I noticed that when I turn my car on, I get a message reading column lock. After I hit reset, the message goes away, but why is it there in the first place?

You may have had the column lock fail at one point (maybe it didnt lock one time and you didnt notice it). At that point, the BCM thinks the column lock is malfunctioning and sets a code internally, which from that point on will signal the message "Service Column Lock" on the DIC.

Try pulling fuse #25 in the passengers footwell for 10-15 minutes and see if that clears it up.

I will give that a try. I also asked my friend about the problem, and he said there was a recall for the column lock. Have you ever heard about that?
