Why can't we just switch the low beam bulb with the high beam bulb and to run low beams leave the switch on the bright setting and to run low beam set the switch to high. You know reverse everything. And then with the stalk set to low beam the high beams actually light but the computer thinks it is low beam and then you can use the driving lights at the same time. What am I missing here, it must be something or someone a lot smarter than me would have figured it out first, no insults intended please.
:blueangel:
I meant High Beams and Driving lights at the same time. Sorry, I've proven that I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw. I can live with that. Thanks about the shape of the high and low beam bulbs. That makes sense. I did find these folks http://www.midnightmoose.com/ they sell very competively priced lighting products (no I am not affiliated) and I ordered a set of 6 replacement bulbs for the front. They also have a HID system that seems like it will install in stock vehicles with no modifications. I will look into that for potential upgrades.
Re: Headlight (Low) Driving Light Same Time (Corvette00Car)
Hummm.....Maybe i read something wrong here....but my 98 runs the driving lights with the low beams on. It does however turn off the driving lights at high beam.
Re: Headlight (Low) Driving Light Same Time (Corvette00Car)
The Vette doesn't have driving lights, unless they've been added aftermarket.
The Vette does come with optional foglights. I think you may be confusing the two. I believe most states do not allow the running of foglights with the hi-beams.

They did :smash: , that's why the connectors are slightly different for the two bulbs, so you don't 'accidentally' put the wires onto the wrong bulb. The shape of the light housing is also slightly different, so the projected beam would also change if all you did was swap the wires, but the bulbs can't just be changed from hi to lo without taking a Dremel to something.
You can file down the indent so the bulbs will accept the wrong wire sockets and try it, but unless you also figured out a way to swap the bulbs in the housing it probably wouldn't work too well.
If you really want to upgrade your lights get a set of the Euro housings that use H4 bulbs. I don't know if any forum sponsors have them, but Ecklers has everything you'd need for about $250. I have the PIAA 1100x fogs and use the PIAA Xtreme White H4 bulbs (my sig pic is incorrect), no complaints about lighting here. With the PIAA fog lights on I rarely even use the Hi-beams
