I am about to put Goodyear F1 GS-D3 on next week (99C5). Is there any problems with the stock sensors in the wheels that will cause a problem? My local dealer didn't advise changing tires that weren't OEM and said without the runflats with the stiffer sidewalls the nonrunflats could cause a problem with the sensors being damaged due to the softer sidewall tire.
Is there any truth to this or is he mistaken?
PS the sensors will still be used for digital display want they?
If you got a flat while driving, I suppose it's possible the sensor could be damaged. It is on the outside ege of the rim basically, although it doesn't extend above the wheel lip, the tire crushing down onto it could possibly contact it.
I imagine anyone who's gotten a flat with non-runflats and sensors could better tell you if this happens or not.
In normal driving, no, you won't hurt the sensors by using non runflats.
