But still, how hard could it be? Other than all the sensors, and LS1 is basically a SBC.
Basic engine assembly isnt rocket science. However, it is all of the little tricks and extras that you do not know until you have built many and done a lot of R&D that make the differences in performance and longevity.
Don't get me wrong, I have never built my own LS1, but I have seen many in different stages of assembly.

Actually, except for the bore spacing, there isn't a thing in common with a Classic SBC and an LS1. LT1s in 92-96 Vettes were very similar to SBCs, but LS1s are a whole different animal ( Different block {design and material}, different bore and stroke, different oiling system, ignition system, heads, intake ...etc. )
Well you get the idea. Basic engine building techniques are applicable, but none of the years of SBC tips and techniques will apply.
