Hoping the title would catch your attention, i was wondering what kind of power can you achive with a corvette if your putting in about 20k dollars? i'm wanting to run pump gas because i do'nt have easy access to race but i wanna run alot of horsepower. I would like to know how much would i run n/a, with a supercharger, or with a turbo system. Thanks for your help

Re: 20,000 DOLLARS!!! (peffy117)
20,000 can go a long way... At a few shops you can probably get 520 rwhp NA for 20,000... You can also get around 650 rwhp with a procharger/vortech w/ a good set of h/c
with the supercharger and h/c can i get the 650 rwhp on pump gas? also how reliable is that? and will that cost all of the 20k or will i have money for getting fuel upgrades and trans upgrades? Also how do superchargers sound on corvettes? i mean like on a saleen s-351 superchargers have a REALLY nice sound, how do they sound on c5 corvettes? and finally the stroker engine, what kind of power would that give out? thanks! :D
For 20k, you should have enough for the whole ATI, h/c set up
ati--5700k
h/c--4-5k
headers--800-1500
racetronix--300
exhaust--600
throttle body--100
ls1 edit--500
high flow cats with xpipe--700
gears--1000
output shaft--400
install--3500-4500=21k plus tax and your vette will be gone a few weeks, but when you get it back----it'll never be the same :D
BUT--the big stroker with it's larger displacement adn torque with a direct port nitrous set up will likely blow the doors off the above if you don't mind refilling the bottle.
Ok, with the stroker idea, what kind of horsepower to the wheels am i looking at? also what kind of quarter mile and 1/4 mile times could i get? and how good are strokers racing from a roll?
LS6 block
Forged bottom end
Cam and Heads
Built tranny
Heavy duty rear end
TTi Twin Turbo Setup Stage II w/ singler intercooler ( coming out very soon )
Total cost will be right at 20k
This will be a extremely reliable package and will be easily make 550/600rwhp on 93 pump gas, and enough torque to defeat superman.
I'm guessing if and I do mean if you can get traction at the rear wheels it will easily be a very very low 10 second car with daily driver manners.
Geez, I think I just sold myself, hope the wife never sees this post :leaving:
$19,995 and you get a warranty from one of the premier engine builders in the country
:iagree: Since you're in Texas, you might consider 21st Century Muscle Cars, an authorized Lingenfelter shop in the Dallas area. http://www.21stcenturymusclecars.com
427 c5-r based big block. Right now their specific output isn't anywhere close to the H/C 346 c.i. cars putting down 450+ rwhp, but that'll soon change. Most big blocks put down around 500 rwhp and torque, but they don't take full advantage of the displacement because they run out of breath. W/ the new FAST intake manifold comming out and the new AFR bigblock heads these things should make tons more power. If I had the cash I'd go 427 :steering:
You know you're addicted when you drive a 12 second car w/ over 400 horsepower, that handles like it's a race car and you're dreaming/jealous of the guys w/ 427's, H/C, turbos etc. :D  :steering:
If you're looking for an FI engine package, then our 550TT should be of interest to you, It will make 500RWHP and run and drive just like stock when you are not in the throttle, but pull like an airplane on takeoff when you're at WOT!!! You can see full details of the package here: http://lingenfelter.com/pac550ttls1y.asp
If you're more interested in a N/A engine package, then you might like our Darton sleeved 427 package which includes our full length headers! This engine will make a little less power, but it has that aggressive big cube sound, and the torque that you would expect from 427 cubic inches! Full details on that package can be seen here: http://lingenfelter.com/pac427cidls1y_slv.asp
While the TT is a little more than you're wanting to spend, the 427 N/A fits squarely in your budget, and both of these packages are covered by our 2yr/24K mile warranty.
Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you,
Thanks,
Ed

I'd pick one of these...depending on my future budget...If I was going to have more money later, I'd start with the 427, then add the TT to it later, both LPE...
Spending that kind of money on engine upgrades, you'll want to do it right, and that means LPE in my book. Besides, if you ever want to resell it, the LPE name means you get more out of your investment.
Of course, if you want to spend 20k and have more than just raw power in mind, you could go the LPE magnuson route. With their h/c work, installed warranteed and all, you are probably 12k or less...and can be around the 500rwhp mark. Then you'd have 8k to do brakes, interior, wheels, etc...
You may want to consider purchasing a slightly used but already heavily modded car. You can save a fortune. You'll see cars in the 'C5s For Sale/Wanted' section where the owners have 75 or 80K invested (including the cost of the car) and are asking around 50k.

I've got ~$18K in mine, probably close to half is labor. For someone who can do his own work, he can get lots of Hp for $20K.
I would say a nice 422ci N/A superstroker with all the options that will get you 500-510rwhp, and then a 150shot of Nitrous for a bit of extra fun when you want it. Any SC or Turbo you could do on a big cube motor for 20K wouldnt be reliable. The only big cube forced induction route I would trust would be the LPE 427 TT and that runs MUCH more than 20K.
If you are interested in any pricing or details about an ARE 422 and a good simple, reliable nitrous setup for it, feel free to drop me an email!
