Experience-yes. Opinion-terrific. Got the euro housings and stock wattage Silverstars-Bada-bing :smash:
:D Ride On :jester
Or adjust your headlights up a little more, use a reley to make the dims come on with the brights, and higher wattage bulbs. I've owned two euro cars in Germany the main difference in lighting is that thier autobahn signs are all lit so their lights can be "lower with more of a spread" American lights give up some light to a higher angle to hit our un-lit highway signs.
I cannot judge what your US headlines are like, but the Euro headlights of the Corvette C5 that we are stuck with are very bad too.
It is the famous candle behind the glass that we feel we got here. Obviously we are not allowed to run on the high watts, but the normal ones are bad compared to the blue light XENON headlights that my Lexus LS 430 came with. Pls keep in mind, the more watts you put into the headlights, the more heat will you have inside the lamp housings and there is no ventilation. It gets awfully hot!!
This just as a hint from Europe.
The German
P.s. Just to be clear abt it, the Germans have no street lights on Autobahns, it is black like in the rear end of a bear on our streets.
Whoa! TMI! Not sure if I wanna drive on the Autobahn now that I know they have bears with black butts on the streets! :D Seriously, I know that the stock headlight housings are plastic and with 180 watts going on in there, there could be a heat issue, these are metal. Also the stock Bezels are not quite clear and have a diffusing pattern which these don't seem to have. This would give me the opportunity to use a whiter color bulb and get more lumens on the asphalt... In theory. Do they perform as advertised or is it hype. magnetic has tried them and feels they perform. Has anyone else tried?

Re: I need/want new headlights. (ArKay99)
I put in hyperwhite bulbs (80w) I think-barely helped. I added the PIAA's from Tuan & that helped a lot. Still not what I had in my BMW w/ zenons though. I'm not willing to spend the $ on the Euros.
I bought my C5 used, and it already had the euro lights and 1100x fogs. I have no complaints, but my last car was a Trans AM so ANYTHING would be an improvement over the lights on that car. I'm using the PIAA Xtreme White 55/60W bulbs, they seem to match the 1100x fog lights in color pretty well. FWIW, if you have the 1100x fog lights it wouldn't matter what bulbs are in the headlights since the fogs are bright enough that you barely need the headlights. That being said, I'm going to attempt to make my fogs stay on with the BRIGHTS later this week. I already figured out how to do it, and I have the parts, now all I need is the time. I'll post the results and instructions when I'm done.
ArKay99,
I installed these this weekend with the optional high wattage PIAA 135W Halogen Bulbs.
These are great and I would recommend for everyone.
Get the high wattage kit with the HD wiring harness.
I also have a Lincoln Aviator with factory HID's, as a comparison. After getting the Lincoln, the C5 seemer even worse. I tried the 80W APC bulbs in the factory lights and was not satisfied.
These are great! High beams are better than the Aviator high beams. The 135W PIAA's really light things up.
I made a quick trip to the grocery store tonight in the C5 to check out the great lights, and this 1 trip paid for the headlights. About 1 mile from home, I saw a deer by the side of the road, with plenty of room to slow down/stop. As I approached the deer slowly, it ran across the road in front of me. With the standard C5 lights, I wouldn't have seen the deer until too late - not a pretty thought (I hit one in a Navigator about 2 years ago.)
Before I do any thing I would make sure your headlights are adjusted.
I found my were way out. The right side of the Vette lights were was off and the left side was not that far off. After I did the adjustments I added SilverStars bulbs on just the low beam. So far so good. Not as good as the Euro lights I had on my 94, but I can live with these till I can make up my mind what to do next.
