Cutting down the front shroud.......
Can I cut off about 1" from the front plastic shroud(s). It scrapes a lot & it's annoying. Would I be upsetting anything GM designed them for??? Can I cut the front & the left/right? What can I use that will cut best??? Thanks!!!! :seeya
A cardboard cutter will work very well for the right and left sides... I have used a hand held grinder to shave off the middle piece before... just remove it (two bolts) and trace a straight line on the material and start grinding.
IF YOU,RE TALKING ABOUT THE AIR DAM UNDER THE NOSE OF THE CAR...I WOULDN,T........THIS IS WHAT DIVERTS AIR UP INTO THE RADIATOR........ IT COULD SERVERLY EFFECT THE COOLING CAPABILITY OF THE CAR IN SUMMER MONTHS. HOPE THIS HELPS... :nono:
Because i repositioned my radiator due to the supercharger and wanting to retain the stock fans, I had to move my air dam forward about 5 inches. Anyway, at that point, the center air damn no longer aligned with the side pieces, which i believe are just there to complete the wrap around look of the air damn. They are so flemsy, they certainly cant do anything aerodynamically at high speeds. I also cut an inch off the front air dam because since it was moved forward, it was occassionally scraping on things. Cutting the inch off cured that and there are no"running hot" issues at all. If there were, i would certainly have known by now in the Texas heat. I like the look without the side pieces anyway.
I know others will agree with me. Take that bad boy off so you can finally lower your ride, like your dying to do. My driveway is slowly shaving mine down.
