Default Cleaning up heads

What type of cleaners can be used on a set of heads to clean them up and remove carbon build up on the valves?

Would that be safe on aluminum heads?

Try the Decarbination spray you can buy from GM. It is the same stuff you spray into an engine when you do the decarb procedure. It is available in liquid form or in a spray can I believe.

I cleaned up a set of heads this past weekend. The carbon build up was pretty heavy. I used a brush and a can of Barrymans. The Barrymans is a FI type cleaner. I just dipped the brush in the Barrymans and then scrubbed and then hosed off the area I was working on. It worked great.

Any parts store (Auto Zone) will carry it. Good luck!

I assume you mean that they are off the car....I think that top engine cleaner from GM is heat dependant. I soaked a valve in the stuff cold for 24 hrs and nothing came off of it. Hope this saves you the few bucks that would have cost.
