Wow! Thank you for replying. Yes I agree! Vararam does have a "Made In The Garge look". This was another reason I frowned on it. Also I can not see that sponge filter holding up at 170 mile an hour. All I hear are good things about vararam but I feel if you use that sponge in time you will have dirt in your intake. I mean look at it. You can see through it. Going to install mine Tuesday. But will be checking the filter very often. I am not a happy vararam person yet. We will see Tuesday. Thanks again. Next will be the x pipe and free flow cats. Thanks again.
There is a way, AEM makes an adapter for just that purpose, now if these corvette vendors would make their systems work with that adapter, there would be no more problems.
I want the Vararam in the worst way. You look at the design and the positive gains and ask yourself why wouldn't it work? But I am deathly afraid of hydrolocking my engine. Which of course can happen with a variety of other bottom feeders but going thoough standing water on the interstate, water which you cannot tell the depth of is a scary thought. Or worse, having someone in another nearby car splash enough of a wave into you.
Wish they had a way to close off the bottom feeding at will and have the car breath underhood air when needed.
I installed a VaraRam on my Z06 and from 70 mph + I can feel the difference. Another thing you should add at the time you install your VaraRam is their Velocity Stack. I had one of the first that Patrick sold for C5s. You can feel an improvement in the crispness of your part throttle accelerations. Together they are a great package.
My 2002 Z06 is a three-season after work - weekend driver.
I've installed on my '01 coupe. You can tell the difference right away, I had gone from the stock induction system.
I've never experienced any water problems...but I would never submerge the front end going through a puddle....that's the only way I'd see you suffering from hydrolock.
I believe this is worth the money...I purchased mine from RG Motorsports and couldn't be happier... :reddevil
Re: vararam air induction system (larjantheyellowman)
Hey you all. Got vararam air induction installed. Was not to hard to do. Neck and fingers hurt. Took it out on the highway and drove the 40 miles. Vette seems to go faster at a lower rpm. On the way home a person in front of me drove off the side of the road. Big cloud of dirt I had to drive through. This is not good. Have not checked the filter. The idea of vararam is great. But back to the poor quality of it. It is not made very well. Very cheap and I can see the three rivets when standing back. That piece should have been one smooth piece. Also the choppy hole in the middle of the scoop I filled with black silicone. For $400 I feel it is a rip off. I may take it off and try vortex.
Re: vararam air induction system (larjantheyellowman)
Hi again. For some of you thinking about installing vararam here is pics of it finished. It does what it suppose to do but I guess I am a picky person.

Re: vararam air induction system (deadzoom)
Those look like rivets that are too big. Mine didn't mount like that. What I did though is take black touch up paint & paint the nuts. Now you can't see them at all! Give it a try.
Hi Dr. Ron. Thank you for the note. Good idea. Going to touch them up. Still for $400 you should not have to do that. That piece should have been one. Hope you agree. It is not smooth and slick like the vette is.

No, that piece should not be one part. The tubes are riveted to the scoops at top (and not the bottom) so that it can tilt up a bit to aid in installation. It is also designed to break away in the event of a front-end crash. Just paint the rivets.
Hi rbartick. I agree with the help on having it tilt to install but do not agree with the break-a-way due to a crash. Thank you for replying. What do you think about the X Pipe?
Sorry, I don't have a vararam, I have a vortex, and it also made me smile !!! But I'm a stickler for every last horse, so i'll be getting one soon !!!! Sorrry to interrupt your post , but Dr. Ron, THATS :bs on the 1.70 60 & the 11.70 on f1's !!!!!!!!!!!! I guess you would rather Climb a tree and lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth !!!!!!!!!! Sorry Charlie, not buying it here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bs :bs :bs :bs
I am satisfied with my Vararam. It is one of the first made. I have driven my vert in various types of storms and lengths of time in said weather without a problem.
I do maintain a constant speed (I take the lead shoe off) and watch for deep water puddles. Exercising a little caution seems to have helped so far.

Re: air induction system (NONitro)
Sorry, but it's true. There were 15 people there to witness it!!! I couldn't believe it until I saw the slip myself. Besides, what do I gain by fibbing anyway??? I can fax you a copy of the time slip if you like, or better yet, drive up here & I'll take you to the track I did it at & show you. I know what I ran...you don't have to buy it.
Hi Dr. Ron. I believe you! I have not been to the track yet. Did some testing on the highway. I seems my rpms are lower. I wish I have writen it down before and after. Really would like to see you at the track. I like your zo6. Very nice. What was your time on the 1/4 mile. I am new to this board. You said to check your sig? Not sure what that is. :jester
