Yesterday my C5 starting running like do do. I just the plugs and wires to NGK T55 Iridiums and MSD wires. The plugs and wires have been on for about 3 months. So, my first instinct was to check the plugs and wires for good connections.
They all seemed OK, so I took the car for another test drive, same thing.
So, upon closer inspection, I noticed that the number 7 wire was sitting directly on the header. I pulled the wire off and the insulation was burnt. I replaced that wire with one of the old GM wires, and took it out for another run.
Problem fixed. Do any of you know how to get that wire from resting on the header. I will order a replacement MSD wire, but I will need to come up with something, so that wire does not rest on the header.
I have not had that problem but I remember there were postings concerning this. Someone said you can special order a wire from MSD that will provide the needed clearance. Search the archives?
Jegs, hot rod shops, etc. sell a product called "cool sox" that are insulating covers for plug wires. They work great, but you still need to find a way to keep them from actually touching the header tubes. :yesnod: :)
