Upgrading your oil pump?

Everyone talks about upgrading the oil pump when you do a cam swap.
Does anyone really know whats involved in blueprinting or upgrading the
pump? After all this is nothing more than a simple gear pump. You can
reduce the clearances on the cover and debur the radiuses and thats about it unless you change RPM's or gears?

i think they just debur it and shim it for more pressure. I put in a new gm pump when I swapped cams because of the rare problem with 97-00 pumps.
