Re: Any experience with bump steer kits? (vette.se)
From what I've heard you need to go to a good suspension shop to get it correctly adjusted, but it's only what I've heard
That's correct. Basically, what you do is put the "stems" in the spindles, then screw the sleeves/rod ends on the tie rods, and bolt a "toe plate" on the car in place of the wheel. Next, you run the suspension up and down through it's normal range of travel and note the toe in change using a dial indicator against the toe plate. By moving the rod end up or down by shimming the stem in the spindle, you get the steering arms to more closely follow the arc of the control arms, minimizing toe change throughout the suspension travel, therefore minimizing bump steer.
It's best to do this while the car is on a front end machine, since you'll have to set the toe in order to finalize the installation. Primarily, the kit is aimed at cars that have been drastically altered from the stock ride height (if anyone has established what that number truly is).
That's "bump steer"....."bum steer", well we all knew about that before!

Re: Any experience with bump steer kits? (Evil-Twin)
the bum steer kit retrofit, offered by a joint venture between willa concepts, inc. and butt industries (Articulated Steering Systems) is quite unique, really. it incorporates a patented harness that wraps around your waist & crotch (picture a parachute harness) and hoists ye **** comfortably in the air via a pully system, strategically placing it on a custom-fitted articulated **** rest that mounts to the steering wheel. outward visibility is excellent, with the newly developed mirrored leather cover from ken king that goes over your sport or base drivers seat. the only design problem that has been encountered to date is the air bag, which may cause serious rectal discomfort upon discharge, so to speak...
Re: Any experience with bump steer kits? (leadfoot4)
I agree, I have the kit on my lowerd C5 and id did make a difference on the autocross course and open track. I would not do it jsut for the street. And yes it is a lot of work, and you really, really need a good alighment machine and someone that know what they are doing around one. Your average run of the mill family alignment shop will not kn ow what to do with it or why.
May I ask why you want to install one? What do you think it will do for you?
