Default Alignment woes

I've had difficulty with this car keeping alignment. I think something might almost be loose. Last time, I jacked up my car and that caused it to go out of alignment. Fortunately the alignemnt guy felt bad for me and did it at a reduced rate. Now tonight, I mastered the art of powerbraking the stick clutch. I did it ONCE and held it only for 3 seconds if that, and I immediately noticed that my alignment felt off. Good LORD! How the H can it be off alignment that quicky!?!?!

It's well worth doing every 10,000 miles. I bet there are 1000's of us here on the forum that worry about every little noise or increase in HP but don't realize how much better their car would drive with a fresh Alignment.

I would say this is the best of all mods, but it isn't a mod! :D :D Even better than getting rid of these run craps!

Ok, hold on;

Just how tight an alignment are you trying to hold? a) within spec, b) dead center of spec, c) just feels wrong, d) steering wheel changes angle?

Are the front tires found to be out of alignment or the rears? Could the steering rack be loose?

Do you check the air pressure before checking the alignment? Was the car aligned with the normal HOT (e.g. having been driven for 10 miles) air pressure? Are the tires new? Balanced? Square? Round?

Now tonight, I mastered the art of powerbraking the stick clutch.
Sounds like a good way to toast a clutch.......brakes are for slowing the car, clutch is to make shifting easier/possible. Use them wisely.

I did it ONCE and held it only for 3 seconds if that, and I immediately noticed that my alignment felt off. Good LORD! How the H can it be off alignment that quicky!?!?!
Any chance you flat spotted a tire? -> balance issues or roundness issues with tires.

Now on to the physics lesson: The Vette is a 3200 lb car, when it is accelerating at 1 Gs (completely possible and then some) the 4 little contact patches are generating 3200 lb of force (accelerate, corner, and brake). When braking as much as 66% of the braking is done at the front contact patches, this means that each front contact patch is generating 1100 lbs of force. The chassis is designed and built to withstand this use. If you are not generating forces (much) above 1 Gs, the chassis should need an alignment about as often as it needs tires.

Tell that to the Pot Hole! That's why I hate driving at night. Can't see the pot holes!!
