Only 140... but that was in fifth and I was just starting to redline... stock '01 Coupe. I want to hit 170 but I'm so scared to get caught! Is there anywhere in Southern California where you can legally open it up to that speed (track)?

if you were redlining at 140, your clutch is FRIED :yesnod:
I have had my car to 173, and after that, I couldnt get over 150, clutch was TOASTED
new clutch, but havent had the ***** to hit 170 again :nonod:
Nope! headers, Bassini X, amd Corsa Indy. 1.8 Rockers and springs. Hall Tech, and polished MAF and TB. Stepping up the headers and going to a LG long tube with 3 inch system with 3" random Tech cats. Got the hardware just got to get it on! I had the B&B triflows before.
The little Blue Dragon has always been an exceptional runner. The base line dyno was above the rated by 15 HP before any mods With 35K miles.
It is now 110K miles and I need to get back to the dyno after I get my LGs on.
150, small, local 4 lane, 03 coupe, with extensive air intake mods and all ZO6 exhaust system, predator reprogram, in Pennsylvania deer country, once was enough, you 170+ guys must be fu**ing crazy, I know it had lots more, but I need some big, safe, clear highway to ever go much faster than that again.
BTW, if youve ever been in PA, you probably appreciate going 150 with our short windy roads, that have deer comitting suicide in front of cars on an hourly basis.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I am from Up-state NY (Binghamton) and you are absolutely right.
I am now out here in N. Calif and believe me there is some really nice high speed highway. 3 lanes in one direction and straight as a bullet. and in some cases goes that way for 10+ miles. I love desert cruising say from Bakersfield up through Mojavie and out across to Needles at the Arizona boarder. And the highway is actually built up and you can see for miles in all directions. 100+ to stay in front of some of the truckers. Actually had the cruise control set at 120+ and ran there for some time! So we have the 170+ highways out here.
You are right I would never attempt it back your way.
