The release date for this system is still around January 1st and pricing should be available in the next week or two. It is expected to be about $1500.-$1800. more than the current system. It will make about 50 horsepower more than the non-intercooled kit and produce 7# of boost. This one will come with an in-tank fuel pump and the air temp sensor has been moved to a location that will provide better readings. The intercooler will make a big difference in the air temps. They should be reduced from 200+ degrees to about 110.
As always, more info will be posted as I receive it.
Thanks very much for the heads-up here and in your e-mail. Couple of questions: Is the new in-tank pump the Racetronix unit? I hope so. Will the coolant tank for this thing (I saw the picture of it sitting on top of the battery) work with a top post battery like the Optima? No way would I put a side post Delco in my car.
thats a lot of money for 50 more horse ! :yesnod: :nonod:
I don't think it's so bad, considering most folks don't balk a bit at spending $1,600-$2,000 on headers that only get one 20-30hp, or a set of heads that will gain 30-40 hp over a cam-only car.
So that puts the Intercooled Maggie at about $6,500 list, plus about $1,500 for a hood and painting.
$8000 for a Intercooled mag, or $8,000 for the TTi turbo system, and you don't need headers?
Not sure of the brand yet but it might be a Walbro. When I talked to Magnuson last week they had a car in there with an Optima battery. It didn't seem promising that the cooler would fit with this battery.
Way too much money for just 50hp.... They are using on 7# of boost vs 5.5# for the stock one. I think they are scare of blowing up the bottom end. Since it is being intercooled, those of you with real botton end should be able to crank the boost way up....
I say they are just being conservative because it is their butts if your engine blows up because they cranked it up to 12#.
I personally wouldn't buy it, because I won't have a forged botton end, but to those who do have the cash..Get it and crank up the boost.
If they put the kit out with a 12# pulley then people will be complaining that the Magnuson supercharger blew their motor because that's the pulley that was sold with the kit. If the someone installs a 12# pulley and blows his motor then it's not Magnuson's fault.
