Default Porting my own throttle body...

Should I? Can I just break out the dremel and freak on it? :smash: It really doesn't seem like there's all that much to it.

Talk to chuckster. He wrote a great article on it and emailed it to me. Very straightforward. A lot of sanding involved for me.

I just did a polish job on my throttle body.I polished it with my Dremel tool with no problems. When I completed the polishing, reinstalled the throttle body,I was disappointed.I didn't feel any difference whatsoever.I killed 3hours,but no improvement.I am sorry to say. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy

My question is a what air volumn might you expect to see improvement?? The engine operates as a huge air pump, maybe performance could improve slightly at WOT>

just be careful and don't cut into the water jacket, that is unless you have a bypass. several years ago, a friend almost hydro locked his motor after a beer soaked mod day. :lolg:

:iagree: His write up is really great ...
On my G5X-2 cam car, the throttle response is much faster now and the car drive much smoother in the 1st and 2nd gear.
The great idea was to seal the hole inside the TB which allows more air, that is my thought!

From what I've seen and read, the throttle body passes plenty of air until you get into the high displacement, read that stroker motor, conversions.

Are the ported t.bodies fully ported all the way through which would require a larger dia butterfly (throttle plate)?

Or, are the just ported up to, and away from the butterfly?

Thanks

I polish my throttle body about 3/8" above the throttle butterfly as I didn't have a larger throttle butterfly.I spoke to Russ Collins of RC Engineering and he stated enlrging the throttle body mod wasn't necessary as it is large enough from the factory. He also drove a Vette for a long time.Russ opened up the throttle body on a 98 Nissan I owned and the high end improved,as did throttle response, but it didn't improve the low end.Russ Collins tel.#: (310)3202277
