Way back when someone posted a fix using a Campbell Hausfield oil separator. At the same time someone posted a pic and brand name of a speed shop separator that supposedly works better. Local speed shops never heard of it. I tried the CH thing. As soon as the element gets saturated, it quits working. 99 C5, too much carbon.
Thanks for any help.
Racor makes 'em for boats. Others make 'em for airplanes. I plan to make my own out of a PVC side-out elbow, caps, etc. using plastic or stainless 'brillo pad' material within for the vapor to impinge upon without creating too much pressure drop. Not perfect, but should help quite a bit and fit in the limited area where the hose is currently routed. I don't care to re-route all over the engine compartment to filter out all the vapor. If you want to filter everything, check out the Motor guard 'toilet paper' filters :D
They actually work according to people that use them for compressors. The literature says the pressure drop is low through them, and maybe it will make your Vette smell spring fresh
Thanks for the help. I'll look into all of the above. Yes, it was the Greddy that was mentioned. If I use the toilet paper thing, can I get one of those air freshners that goes inside the roll? :-)

Just take the element out.. Mine catches twice as much now :smash:
Marc, if there is no seal then it is sucking fresh air into the intake Manifold. It never gets pull the crakcase fumes because the leak is much less resistance..Try to fix the seal..
Heck for $11 just put a new one in and leave the element out..
I still get oil. The filter will accumulate 1/4"-1/2" of oil and then no more. As soon as I clean the element, it collects another like amount. You guys that removed the element, Did you replace the black plastic thing that looks like a gear? I think that plays a part in separating the oil. Mine fell down behind the damn battery into the lower fender well! I'm going to go find it today and remove the element but leave the black thing.
I did this mod myself, still use te original have the filter and after 2.500 it still works. It catches a teaspoon or 2 when I empty it every 4-6 weeks.
Some say they lost power with it, but that sounds pretty starnge to me. Look at my times, it isn't slowing me down and I see it works so I might as well keep running it. :D
I got a new unit today.........needed to replace white filter and replace missing o-ring. Has anybody tried teflon tape on the bowl threads? I'm curious, how do you all remove the excess oil.......unscrew the bowl or use the shrader valve? Do you through out the accumulated oil or, like me, dump it back in the oil fill.
