Default Vinci Controller vs. Predator

Hi All,

I had ordered the Predator earlier & have recently purchased the controller. Since I am still waiting for both items I'm still researching the capabilities of both. From what I see the Predator can alter the fan settings in the PCM directly whereas the Vinci unit uses a probe to check the temp that switches on the low speed fan.

Since I have a 160 thermo the recommended settings for the Predator are:

Fan 1 on 184 / off 175
Fan 2 on 194 / off 185

The Vinci is factory set to activate at approx. 160.

What will happen here ?
Will the unit keep switching on the low speed fan at that temp & in case it fails the Predator tune will come into play?
When does the Vinci unit turn the fan off ?
Do I really need the Vinci Unit since I can adjust the fan temps at PCM level ?

Could someone please answer my questions ?

I dont know what type of controller you have .. but my Vinci is fully controllable... it over rides the factory settings.. but alklows the factory setting to over ride if the vinci fails... Ive had mine for three years.. I turn it off now that ive changed back to the 190 stat.. for the winter..AS spring approaches...I will set the vinci to come on earlier..with the stock stat... then around the end of april.. I will put in the 160.stat.. and set the Vinci to come on at 180

I also have the Vinci. I have mine set to come on at 207 and it has a 6 degree hysteresis so it goes off at about 201. I am running the stock thermostat. It also turns on both fans at the same time to the temp drops quickly. Not sure you need the Vinci if you re-program through the Predator. I will say I am happy with my Vinci though.

You only need one, either the Predator or the Vinci.

The Predator is just easier, just plug and play. The Vinci is fully adjustable, although you need to wire it and set it up to turn on at a certain temperature using the DIC temp readout. Both are good though the Predator is easier to set back to stock if you need to - no wires or install to mess with.

I have the Predator and its the primary reason I got it, along with a 180 Tstat.
