The factory fuel cut off for C5's is at about 6200 rpm. Some Mid range performance cams' powerband goes up to about 6800 rpm ( with the proper valve train upgrades of course ). How can we move to cut off up in the rpm to take advantage of the extra rpms ? Pls advise.
Just clarify something , are you saying that the rev limit & fuel cut off are the same thing ?
I have a Predator on order so if you are saying what i think ur saying then i think i can bump up the same a couple of hundred rpms until i get the almighty LS1 Edit :steering:
I'm not a mechanic but it is my understanding that the fuel cut-off at whatever RPM is programmed is essentially the rev limiter. So when the rev limit is raised or lowered that setting determines at what point the fuel is cut-off. Don't know all the tech details but I believe that's how it works.

Rev limiter on the LS1 is 6000 and fuel cut-off is 6200. Rev limiter on the LS6 is 6400 while fuel cutoff is 6500. These figures are from Chevy's Corvette web site.
OK. Now we're back where we started from. Can anyone who run a bigger cam confirm ? Are the rev limit & fuel cut one or are they different ?
The rev limiter (fuel cutoff on a LS1/LS6) activates right at 6250 rpm on the Z06 it activates at 6500. I used a HPIII on my 97 to raise the limiter to 6500 and the limiter (fuel cutoff) did not activate until I hit 6500 rpm. When the engine started cutting out the tach was right at 6500. That should clarify it.

Thanks. The sound of experience is always great.
In conclusion : Rev Limiter = Fuel Cut off.
I think this thread helped clariy matter. This is why forums are a great place.
We can all benefit & share experiences.
My bad. I was thinking redline when you said rev limiter. However, what's curious is they (www.corvette.com) list redline and fuel cutoff for the LS1 and LS6 as:
So, I've experienced the fuel shut off twice now, the first time startled me (I didn't realize what was going on), but after the second time, I slowed to cruising speed (70mph) after the shut off, and for a few miles, the car would hesitate ,buck and not really go anywhere when giving it gas (in any gear).. I had to pull over and shut the car off and restart then everything was fine...

Thoughts?
Sounds like a different issues because I'm sure you where at like what 1200-1500 rpm at that speed? What codes do you have?
