Default C5 Performance

If anyone out there know's besides doing cold air intake and exhaust on a c5 what would be the next recommendation to add more hp?

If you have an A4 get a high stall T/C (3200-3500 stall) and 3.42 or better yet 3.73 gears. If you have an M6 get 3.90 or 4.10 gears. These mods won't increase your HP but your car will perform like you gained 50-75 more HP.

:iagree:

Though if you go this route you will drop a fair amount of dough. Headers and tuning could be a good choice if you are just trying to up the horsepower. Have you considered nitrous? :jester . Once you get beyond the breather and exhaust it gets a little more radical.

:iagree: If you've got an A4 those are the best mods. Next I would free up the breathing with long tubes and a quality exhaust. The sound you'll get at WOT will be worth as much as the HP. :D LS1 edit from a quality tuner will really help take advantage of your mods.

I've been thinking about headers but I'm not sure what kind of gain or sound that will provide but, I've already changed the exhaust and x pipe I think headers and converters will be my next choice. What do you think? :chevy

How difficult is it to change gear ratio on a C5? I'm new at this but I'm interested. I was thinking about headers because I've already changed my exhaust and x pipe. What do you think?

It's not a quick and easy Saturday morning job by any means. :nonod:
Gear and/or converter changes are best left to qualified technicians with a lift, it can be quite complex (especially on your back with no lift) if you've never done it before.

Judging by your response you sound like you have an A4. If you decide to swap converters swap your gears at the same time and avoid paying labor twice if you swap them separately. IMHO I would do gears and a T/C first in an A4, you will get a MUCH BIGGER boost in performance than you will if you just install headers.

Gears/converter are the best mod to an A4. Much bigger seat of the pants improvement than headers. But you'll need new tires to hook it up!

The A4s have a 2.73 rear standard, their is a 3.15 optional rear available.

All M6s and Z06s have 3.42 gears, their are no optional gears available.

LANZ06, since you're on Long Island you should have the Vette Doctors in Amityville do the LS1 Edit. They know they're stuff!
