I am swamped @ work today, so I don't have time to go through a long and detailed review. I'm trying to get everything taken care of so I can take off for the Thunder Shootout. So, I will keep this short. The car makes some really crazy power. I have done a dyno graph comparison of a totaly stock graph and the G5X3. The Runjet viewer seems to have an issue with my PC. I am using the graph Lou used on the 470.3, and when it gets to 454.xx it goes flat. Anyhow, the HP was 470 with the 3.42s. I was there when they dyno'd the 4.10s and the car made 463. It is a bit louder than it was before, since it now has no cats. It runs ~2500 RPM @ 80 MPH. I ran between 75-80 all the way back, and used 1/2 a tank from Dallas to Houston. As I said, when I have a few moments I will give a complete rundown on things. To put it quite simply, the car is making crazy power...
So the 470rwhp run was done when the car had cats. Then when you put the 4.10s on you lost 7rwhp and lost the cats. Would have been interesting to see if you did a direct compairison how much the 4.10s really cost you. Either way nice dyno numbers and good luck with your shootout this weekend.
Sorry, the cat comment was in reference to before the work at LGM (the car is now louder than before). Both dynos were done without cats, the only chage was the gears. Also, I checked the air pressure on the tires. It was @ 35PSI. I expected more drop with the gear change. The spikes were as high as 465, but I pull the reading back more into the graph and it was a solid 462-463.
Hmmm.. the more I look at these numbers the more I am inclined to have one put in while I am stopping by LGM on my way to the shootout myself.. Only difference would be that mine will be on an A4.
Anyway.. congrats on the new found power. It will be nice to see that car run this weekend.
Good question Jmx, have you added the extra weight to the car yet or can you make some "testing" runs first then add the pounds for the shoot-out. :boxing
Blu, you are correct... Its 3Guns car. You know the car as you have made passes in it. :)
I may be @ HRP on Wednesday making street tire passes so I don't break anything before the shootout. I will be there just to see how the car mphs, and to get a bit more seat time in it. The CCWs will hopefully be in on Thursday. I don't know that we'll have any time for HRP on Friday before we leave.
J-Rod..
Any chance you guys could get to the track friday night at NPR rather than HRP?
Also, how long is the track at HRP open? After this weekend my car will live in Lafayette, La. for the winter. So as long as HRP has a few weekends left, it may be possible to get over there. Now if i can just get my hands on a full set of CCW's w/ ET streets before Friday.
I just hope the tranny holds up through the weekend.
We'll be leaving late Friday afternoon, and driving. Probably about 6hrs or so. So, it will be 8-9PM if everything goes well on us getting there. So, I don't think we'll be going to the track. Most likely just show up on Saturday.
HRP is only closed from Christmas to right after New Years in most cases. They are open the rest of the year as long as the weather is ok.
I will be leaving tomorrow morning to get to Dallas by mid morning thursday for Lou's crew to get the other equipment installed. Friday morning we are all heading out together and should be down there around 6PM if we get out of there by 9AM.
Lou told me on Friday that you will lose a little on the low end with the G5X-3 as it is on a 114 LSA vs the G5X-2 on a 112 that I have now.. However with as hard as hte car hits with the SS3600.. torque loss below 3500 rpm is not that much of an issue. I am just hoping to smooth out the idle a little more with the 114 LSA and gain a few hundred extra rpm to pull the car forward in each gear.
If you go with the X3, keep me posted on your results. I have an A4 as well and thinking I may eventually go with the X3 as it's on the 114, and should be better suited for nitrous.
Also, I checked the air pressure on the tires. It was @ 35PSI. I expected more drop with the gear change.
Was the pressure that high when dyno'd with the 3.42s as well?
I wonder how much of a difference there'd be between 3.42s with tires at 30psi versus 4.10s at 35psi or even just the difference between 5psi in the tires with the same gear...can't be too much I'd imagine.
