I just recently installed a set of LT Headers, Random Tech Cats, X-Pipe, Corsa Exhaust, LS6 Intake Manfold, 3.90 gear, Mass Air Flow, and a Vararam System. I am loving the response and performance of my 2000 vette. I told myself I would stop here, but, of course, I would love to do something else. I am somewhat new to the modification world so I wanted some advice on what to do next. Any opinions??

Yeah, hear are my words of wisdom: STOP NOW or you may end up just like me!!!       If you actually follow these words of wisdom i will probably have saved you THOUSANDS & THOUSANDS of dollars!!!!  :yesnod: :yesnod: And no, i am not kidding!!!
I'm in the middle of performing almost those same changes on my Z06. My question is, how do you like that gear ratio, and how much did you have to pay for the rear diff. My shop is recommending the 3.90's but i'm not sure if 3.73's might be better.
If you do not intend to get into the engine with heads and cam, I would suggest a MAF Translator and Autotap to dial in your AFR. works well for bolt ons. LS1 edit if you go in the motor. OR you could do shocks. OR tires. NO WAIT...wheels...NO WAIT....springs...NO WAIT..low dust pads...NO WAIT... :cry

WHY??? u have a 6-speed. there is no reason to be shy with gears. ur just gonna end up wasting more money until u get to 4:10's. just get straight to the point and go with 4:10s
I know what its like. Chris at East Coast is building the same set up he has that just did the 9.75 in the 1/4. See post in several topics.
383 lunati stroker, pro-charger, N2 custom direct spray on a window switch, roll bar, 3.73 rear. CCW big tire setup. I took it out this weekend and OOOOHHH boy.   brown racing stripes! :D
If you are going to get into the motor get a reputable tuner.

:iagree: :iagree: 1000%. I have 4.10s on my new Z06 and yes the gearing is lower than a M6 and its like having a 4.88 gear ratio in first gear, and traction is quite limited with street tires but MAN IS IT A GAS and its the best mod you can do. GO FOR THE GUSTO, LIFE IS SHORT-Go with 4.10s and be done with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My main objective is 1/4 mile performance. Since this is alot more expensive than a simple ring and pinion swap, I was looking for some advice from some people who have tried various ratios and have found which gear is best. I'm sure 4.10's would be a blast, I just don't want to have too much gear and blast through the cars torque curve.

YOu will need et streets at the drags and then the 4.10s on your Z06 are the gears that will give you your best et as they are perfect for the torque curve produced in the Z06. The two cartek heads/cam Z06s, which are the fastest heads/cam cars in the country (BRENT EB 02 and KH 25) have both gotten 10 sec. time slips in their z06s with m12 trannys with 4.10 gears. As long as you can hook up ( you will need the tires-drag radials minimally and et streets ideally) the 4.10s will give you your best 1/4 mile performance in your z06 in my honest opinion. Brent and KH 24 are proof of that as well as the few other cartek cars (BILLY2kFRC and C5PIGs cartek heads/cam) who have also achieved 10 sec. time slips with 4.10 gears thru their M6 trannys!
Continue to do you homework closely and then make your final decision.IT sucks to do a mod and then realize you didn't go aggressive enuff and then end up regretting it and/or not being satisfied or spending double the money fo the eventual upgrade, etc.
Time to unzipp the Virgin motor, bolt on a wicked set of heads and slide in a lopey cam. When your all done with that squirt about a 100 Shot in it. :steering: :steering:
I met with Tony of TOny's Corvette Shop on Monday for about an hour. The guy is pretty straight forward about what he recommends. His dyno and LS1 edit setup won't be ready til Jan.2004. I'm going to wait til then to do the rest of my mods. He has a pretty impressive operation. I'm just researching to find the optimal setup, with mid 11 sec. 1/4's as a goal(for now).
Well, if its one thing I have learned, it's that this car won't hook on street tires. Stock won't launch at anything above 2k. I can only imagine what 4.10's would do. Thanks for the info. I have a buddy who is relying on me to do all his homework for modding his 03 Coupe as well. I think I'll use his as a guinea pig for the gearing. He just wants it as fast as my Z06 and is not concerned about the track. How did the 4.10's affect HWY driving on your Z06? Does it really calm down in 6th? I drive the car once or twice a week to work and my fiance tries to get the keys every now and then. I'm trying to skirt that thin line between drivability and performance.

Re: Modification Addict!! (jim-b-sr)
Highway driving feels like 100% stock and the 4.10s are totally calm in 6th. At 75 mph i am only turning 2250 to 2300 rpms and the drivability as an eveyday driver is perfect and not a problem at all (but traction with supercar tires is a joke in the first two gears).
