if so please let the wacokid know where to purchase some!!!
I just looked at Waco's signature, and yup, he's only 18...not old enough to remember the water (mist) injection kits from the 60's. Don't really know if they actually worked, or not, but I think the theory must have been to use the water mist broken down (i.e. oxygen and hydrogen) as a performance booster. Personally, I wouldn't use one of these on a C5, but, to each his own. :)

i have first hand water injection experience. in the late seventies i turbo charged a toyota 20 r in a pickup. originally ran 10 psi boost. had weber 2 barrel, and water injection. [ would also use water / methanol mix]. the truck was fast!! without the water injection the detonation was terrible. [ could always tell when water tank was empty]. the truck ran cooler also.
after a few months the waste gate malfunctioned. the truck would develope 15 psi of boost!!!! the truck made more horsepower than most of the small blocks out there and just blew away many so called hot rods!!!
after a couple of years of use the motor was torn down. the tops of the pistons were clean!!! absolutely no carbon or black on them . the same with the combustion chambers and back sides of the valves!!!!
with all the mods and timing changes that can be done to these cars detonation is a serious consideration. every one is trying to cool the intake air. water injection does that and so much more. it steam cleans every time its running. emmissions are better. it allows high combustion pressures and lots of timing with out detonation. considering my experience with it i am surprised kits are not available.
do a search on water injection and learn more!! i was thinking of supercharging at one point and water injection would definetly have been installed!!

Wow, I remember in the early 70's we put water injection on a Corvair, with milled heads, so it had 13:1 Compression.... it also had a 4 barrel carb. in the center, on a high rise. So the water stopped the ping, and kept it cool...and you always knew when you were out of water... It was fun filling it in the old days the gas stations had AIR and WATER on every island... :iagree: :steering: :auto: :hurray: :chevy :seeya :leaving:
Ewueee! got him right in the ole speaker phone!! nice shot :hurray: two points for the vettemaster! :jester
Ya know I thought about the water thing a few months ago. I never did it, but had a cousin that did on his blazer and he also used the methanol sometimes and he swore by it. I wonder if anyone has done any testing with the LS1/LS6 engines, when SCing would/could it replace the intercooler? It should definately up the compression slightly. I like the idea that it keeps the engine clean, I remember that was a big plus.
injecting methanol does work, it is a booster. There is a company called http://www.snowperformance.net that sells these kits. Injecting water is a great idea for high hp cars pushing thier limits. I know I will be with my supercharged beast :reddevil
Golly Gee, I wonder where TheWacoKid went with his totally unappropriate coments? Maybe he's got his themodynamics book out reading up on water injection. :D
I've never figured out why some people are so eager to try to make another look inadequate or foolish. We really don't need this on the Corvette Forum.

come on waco kid, i know ur lurking around! i think an apology is due and im sure would be acepted by vettemaster. the least u can do is delete ur post.
WOW , EVERYONE GO TO LUVMYC5 POST. GO TO CARROL SHELBY PAGE AND READ THE GASEOUS INTERCOOLING PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAYS EXACTLY WHAT MY EXPERIENCE WITH MY TURBO MOTOR WAS...!!! WOW!!! WILL HELP TO EDUCATE ABOUT WATER INJECTION IN A BIG WAY!!!!
NOTE: MY SYSTEM INJECTED WATER THROUGH THE TOP OF THE CARB. FROM THERE IT WENT THROUGH THE TURBO WHICH TOTALLY ATOMIZED THE MIXTURE..... LSI/ LS6 WITH OUT BLOWER/ TURBO PROBALLY NEEDS SOME SORT OF ATOMIZER/ HIGH PRESSURE PUMP SETUP TO FULLY ATOMIZE H2O... THAT WAS REASON FOR INTIAL QUESTION IF ANY ONE KNEW OF KIT FOR C5/LS1/LS6....... :smash:
AWWW we should cut the kid a break, it is really hard to reply with both feet in your mouth and the quick shot between the eyes he took! I am sure he learned a very valuable lesson. Probably a little gun shy to post.
However an apology would be most appropriate!
Ya, like we never learned the hard way~~~ did we? :D
Wish I had a dime for every time I stuck my foot squarly in my mouth!
JER , I STILL STICK MY FOOT IN MY MOUTH!!!.... ONLY I HAVE LEARNED TO STEP UP AND FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!!!! ...ONLY COMES WITH TIME ... AS SO MANY OF US KNOW!!... THIS IS STILL A WONDERFUL PLACE TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE AND INSIGHTS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE TAKE LONG TO ACQUIRE!!!!..... THANKS FOR THE INPUT!!!!!!!!!!!
Guys, you should not laugh at his idea...I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Grand National's but in 1986 and 87 that is what I played with for quite some time and that motor had knock detector similar to what we have today.......If the turbo had to much boost and the knock detector pick it up it would run like crap over 8 to 9 lbs...especially in warm whether...The only way to get up to 19lbs of boost and go like hell, was to put a 7th injector on the intake system...At that time I used pure rubbing alchol as the cooling the air agent.Mercedes windshield washer pump and at full-throttle it was activated....Never had any problems. It just sprayed a mist to cool the intake air and the canister held one bottle of alcohol and would last quite a long time.....This was on a 10.8 1/4 mile car . I believe that is still in use today on those cars. even though they had an intercooler so I don't see why this system of would not work on our Vettes today.
DD, I think that you have something confused. No one is laughing at anyone's idea. In fact, I think is safe to say that we all (save one) agree in principle with your coments about injection of alcohol to cool the incoming air/fuel charge.
If you reread all the posts on this thread, I think that all will become clear.
