Odometer reading question......
I recently came across a 300mph Gauge cluster for my car. My question is will the miles remain the same or are they in the cluster?? I have heard they are in the BCM box. But then I have seen other people selling HUD cluster/projector setups saying they have like 2,000 miles. If it's not in the cluster then there's a lot of BS sellers around! Can anyone help set me straight on this? I don't really want to put these gauges in my car if it's going to alter my mileage!
As far as I know the milage is recorded in the cluster, as well as the PCM so what you do when you get a new one is take it to the dealership to have them reprogram it.
I guess you would have to find some way to prove the real miles on the car (i.e. taking pictures of taking it to the dealer before and after the istall).
I also think that the cluster will give the right MPH read, whether its the 200 or the 300 cluster.
I have done this switch over on my 98. I wanted to add HUD and figured that I might as well go for the 300 MPH at the same time. To answer Your question: the mileage stays in the module , if You only need the 300 MPH gauge you can switch just the speedometer and keep the mileage correct, I had to go to the dealer with both clusters, they said they would not take miles off but in my case I needed to add miles to agree with my cars mileage. You may also want ot switch the oil pressure and water gauges since they read metric on the faces. :auto:
