Hi,
The factory parts are balanced as an assembly: flywheel & clutch plate. This does not mean that each part is individually balanced so if you are mixing parts you need to rebalance.
Good luck,
Steve
Actually I bought the components (02 Z06 clutch) from a vendor and it was shipped in 3 pieces. So does that need to be balanced then?

The one I recently bought and installed was a LUK (OEM) and it came in 1 box balanced as an assembly. I was putting a different motor in my car at the same time. That motor didn't have a flywheel so I had no weights to transfer to the new flywheel that came with my clutch kit. I took a chance and installed the entire setup without putting any weights on the new flywheel. Guess what? Yup, no shaking or other problems. She just hooks awesome now. In fact, this morning on my way to work, some lady was cutting me off from merging so I mashed the go pedal after downshifting back to 1st. It squeeled and then when I hit 2nd it squeeled again. I don't ever recall my LS1 clutch hooking up like that.
If your parts came together, they were balanced. If not, I'd take them and have them balanced. It's not worth taking a chance IMO. Too much work invovled in going back in though now that I've changed a rear, tranny and engine at the same time I think I could change a clutch in a few hours easily.
