Disconnecting negative battery on Blackwing installation
I was wondering if it is really necessary to disconnect the negative cable in order to install the Blackwing. What are the possible ramifications of not doing so? I'd rather not have to reset my radio, etc. On the other hand I don't want to risk damaging the electrical system if that's a possibility. Anybody know for sure?

I disconnected the negative terminal when I installed the Blackwing, but have not seen specific reasons why it is recommended, unless there have been instances of fouling up the MAF.

I disconnected mine when I installed the Blackwing and didn't have to reset anything. I was told that the computer will readjust itself quicker if you disconnect the battery for about 5 min. because you put the computer to sleep and when you reconnect the battery it will read the new airflow coming in and readjust instead of readjusting after driving for 50-100mi.
Re: Disconnecting negative battery on Blackwing installation (DsC5)
I recently installed a twin-cone air intake and there was nothing in the instructions about disconnecting the battery. There was a section that talked about driving the drive so the computer would learn about the added air. It mentioned driving it a various speeds including a few WOT passes. Seems to be pretty standard for any air intake swap. No codes and the car runs fine. :chevy
