Re: feedback on VaraRam VELOCITY STACK? (mgaskins)
I tried it and didn't notice any difference. I did a run with it out, then in, then out. HP change = 0. If this product does anything, I don't believe I would see any change on a dyno though. I am using a VaraRam intake and that produces accelerated air. On a dyno, you are sitting still and the VaraRam is not functioning. A friend of mine installed it in his 2000 and claims he got a little crisper throttle response. Some people have installed them and like the result. I took mine out and ported/polished my TB myself.
I use this in one of my 8.1 trucks. I've used it for 5-6 tanks so far - mileage improved by .75. Some other truck owners have seen up to a 1.5 MPG gain. You'll only see a couple of horsepower up top. Most of the gains are seen in the lower RPM range.
Re: feedback on VaraRam VELOCITY STACK? (mgaskins)
Mgaskins,
I drive an '02 Z06 that has the VaraRam intake and filter. Shortly after I installed it VaraRam came out with their Velocity Stack. I believe I had one of the first Velocity Stacks that they released for a C5.
The secret to having the improved power at part throttle that these Velocity Stacks can provide is to disconnect your battery for an hour, drive your vehicle for 30 to 40 miles after you reconnect the battery before you get on it hard. This give your computer time to relearn it's A/F ratios.
I definitely noticed improved part throttle crispness and power with the Velocity Stack. They weren't designed to give improved WOT power.
Snakeoil for the LS1 as far as I'm concerned.. The "tornado" comes to mind ;)

It's just in your head, trust me.. If that were true, you have one of the best SOTP meters I have ever heard of to feel something so small in response gain.. :)
I agree with you. I can feel the crisper throtle responce also. I let my friend make back to back runs with and without it, and he noted the differance also. So 99 Black add a couple of more people with imagination in there SOP to your list. Ric
