Default coolant temp question

Had a 2001 with average coolant temp between 196 and 198 on a regular basis. Have now a 2003 with the average coolant temp around 188 to 190. It also seems the heater doesn't put out like the 2001. Any thoughts???

My 02 is usually around 195 - 198. Haven't heard of any thermostat changes for '03. :seeya

Thank you stock man for the time to respond to my inquiry. Others under C5 discussion indicate that the 2003's do run a little cooler ( around 190) no matter what the conditions. Interesiting- like you others with cars prior to 2003 have all said 196-198. Thanks again- Hasbeen3727

Welcome to the forum. Took mine on about an hour trip Saturday night and the coolant temp was 197. Heater worked fine.

If you have too high of a concentration of antifreeze the heater will not work as well. I ran into this problem with a VW Rabbit Diesel. Changed the AF and the heater stopped working (diesels don't put out much heat anyways) after screwing around with it for a week I took it to the dealer and they drained some coolant and added water and the heater started working again.

Welcome to the Forum! My '01 runs about 194-198 degrees on the highway. Don't think GM changed the thermostat on later models. The anti-freeze solution/mix mentioned above sounds possible if your cooling system has been serviced recently. Keep an eye on the temps. You're probably fine. Enjoy your ride. :steering:

My 2000 runs 192-194 degrees just like it did before the thermostat change.
