Good question. I am interested as well.
What is the difference between dif PCV valves? Is there such thing as a high perf version? What is the actual function of the valve and how do you know when it is faulty? Looks like a simple check valve, but I have seen it called for replacement in tuning up other cars. I assume is does where out then.
Anyone know?

IMHO, Part numbers may change, but they are a simple check valve, just rebuy the one that came on the car from GM. It realy depends on many factors as to how long it will last but if at each oil change you pull it off and shake it and you here it rattle freely you are good to go.
Most of the time it's not wear and tear that stops these from working it's lots of dirty oil vapor from nasty unchanged oil, that gums them up and the check valve gets stuck. Sence most of us are perfectionists about our vettes, I doubt many vette owners will ever have this as a issue.
So, unless somthing unusual happens it will last a very long time.
