Default Need help with O2 sensor code

I'm getting the following code on my 2002 C5:
P0133 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 1

I'm not getting any other O2 sensor codes, so I'm guessing that there is something wrong with this specific sensor and not my setup in general. Can anyone tell me what this means, and how to fix it? It sounds like it's a problem with the O2 sensors at the rear of the car, but I'm not sure exactly where those are, or how to replace them.

First, I would ask what are your mods?

Second, I believe (but don't have my manual with me) that this code means the O2 sensor is not switching enough from lean to rich. I believe there has to be at least 6 times within every 100 seconds that the O2 switches from something less than 300 mV and greater than 600 mV.

If you have a scan tool, you should easily be able to veryify this. The graph of an O2 typically looks like an EKG during a heart attack. Lots of up/down scribble over time. If your sensor is not working, the graph will have far fewer up/down movement.

Bank1 Sensor 1 is driver's side closest to the engine. Bank 1 Sensor 2 is driver side after your cat. Bank 2 is the passenger side.

You may just have a bad O2 or it has been corrupted. They are easy to replace. Just a unplug the weatherpack and use a wrench to remove.

It is very important that on installation you do not crimp or twist the wires. The O2's have some "special" wiring that has some type of reference point of oxygen. It is explained in the wiring section of the manuals if you have them.

Hope this helps.

Also, here is great link to O2 information:

There is a link on this page that shows pics of damaged O2 sensors. Definitely compare your old one to these pics, as it may indicate a bigger problem.

Thanks TXNC5,

My mods are a Procharger D1SC, LT headers, exhaust, xpipe, Random Tech Cats, Z06 intake manifold, and a few other small ones. I bet the O2 sensor got bumped around a little bit on either the header install or Procharger install, maybe affecting the wiring in a negative way.

Your information was quite helpful, thanks again!
