Re: Hypertech Programer III is it good or bad (Dirty_Red)
Thinking about getting one, is it worth the money/
If you have an A4, I'd say it's worth it for making shift-point changes and increasing shift firmness (line pressure). Also useful for altering fan switch-on temps. Alternatively, I'd recommend the Diablo Predator, but you have a '98.

ARE YO WEARING CAPRI's?!
edit:
I saw cheers and realized you must be from england, then I looked at your location. English dress funkey.... you and your capris and bold ties :lolg:
Re: Hypertech Programer III is it good or bad (i_york)
Hypertech = YES | NO | CANCEL
LS1Edit = Complete control over the PCM :D
I have a Hypertech and the only option I can use is the lower fan temp option. I have an MN6 so I couldn't use the A4 options which MAY be useful to you. I tried the power option and got instant ping and knock. So I put it back to stock. :smash:
Re: Hypertech Programer III is it good or bad (Dirty_Red)
This is a very pro-LS1Edit forum, but LS1Edit is no good if you don't live anywhere near anyone with the software and the know-how. An additional benefit of the HPPIII is that, if you buy used, you can recoup your investment. Try it... if you don't like it, sell it in the Forum classifieds or on eBay. No harm done.
If you like playing, the Hypertech may also be cheaper in the long-run than dyno-time and much more convenient. If you wanna make some quick changes to your shift points or line pressure, or if you fit aftermarket wheels/tyres and wanna adjust for speed correction, all you have to do if plug the HPPIII in and in 10-mins, you're done.

Umm, what the heck are Capri's???
There was a Ford Capri car over here during the 70's & 80's but, apart from that, I have no idea what you're referring to!
You guys can't talk about weird dress sense... I frequently take trips to NYC and there are plenty of younger guys there that think they look cool wearing clothes that look 10-times too big! I've seen some guys wearing jeans with about 1,000 pockets in 'em and the crotch almost dragging on the floor
I won't even mention the recent fad of wearing jeans that hang around the thighs so that your boxers are on full public display! What's even funnier is that Macy's began selling jeans with half a pair of boxer shorts stitched-in at the top... for that authentic look!

I am very happy with mine. Purchased from forum member for $200 shipped.Iffy if you do not get the t-stat. Car stays cool and now runs consistant low 13s.

Horses for courses (as they say here in England).

Ian, living near a tuner with LS1Edit is a good point. I have about 5 in less than a hour's drive from me. I didn't consider proximity a factor in my reply. However, I would like to point out to you and others that may be misinformed about this, HPPIII cannot correct for speedometer changes due to tire size differences on Corvette's. I tried it and it didn't work on mine. Apparently the C5 uses a different scheme to figure out speed. I had to put mine back to stock. :smash:
