GAS GUAGE NEEDLE KEEP SHOWING EMPTY WHEN CAR IS FULL,ALSO GAS NEEDLE KEEP GOING UP N DOWN.
Mine did the same thing this week. It steadily climbed up to the full tho after about 5 minutes. It doesn't go up and down tho. Just went up very slow! :smash:
I WAS TOLD TO ADD A FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER CALLED TECHRON,THAT IS SOLD AT WALLMART......I HAVE ADDED TWO CANS WITH NO GOOD RESULTS.THE DEALER SAID THE FIX IS TO REFLASH MY COMPUTER,BUT I WOULD LOSE MY LSI EDITH,AND MY TUNER IS OUT OF TOWN.
Mine has done this recently also. Just a thought on my part. No problems all year, then suddenly these problems are all over the internet. The GM bulletin states that a different brand of fuel may resolve the problem. Since we have recently switched to "winter blend" of fuel, wondering if this is the source of the problem???
I just took my '98 into the dealer 2 weeks ago with basically the same problem. I would be driving along with a full tank of gas and the needle would drop to empty and warning would come on saying low fuel. They replaced the sending unit. So far so good. There is a bulletin on the sending unit (sorry, don't remember the number right now).
Mine did just as MH2Lmaker's did (see below). I tried different fuels, BG44k fuel inj cleaner with no success. I had my PCM reflashed recently by the dealer & it seems to be working fine although I haven't gone through many tanks with winter weather arriving around here.
My 2001 Coupe exhibited the same behaviour. After going back to the dealer to have the right-side fuel sending unit replaced the problem went away for quite a few weeks and then started happening again.
I read that fuel with high sulphur content causes these problems by fouling up the sensors.. I bought some fuel injector cleaner and used it with a fuel tank of gas and the problem went away...
Its been at least 4 weeks now and it hasnt happened once. Try the Techron that was suggested.. It might take 1 or 2 tank fulls with techron added before the problem goes away.
Well... mine used to fall to empty... then go back up... then it read over a 1/4 tank... started missing.. I got gas.. I put 19.187 gallons in a 19.1 gallon tank. The next tank said 1/$ tank... I got gas and put in 18.2 gallons... so it has gone nuts... wish someone out there makes an after market sensor to fix..
