Default To All installing KOOKS headers, Question....

Having an aerospace background, I’m really **** regarding poor engineering and fit/finish. With the Group Purchase going on at a great price, I’m on the fence sort of. I don’t buy things for my ride without some “touchie feelie” and poor fitting headers can be more trouble than their worth.
Below are some examples of header issues I’ve seen installed on C5’s that raised [my] concerns.

Spark plug wires rubbing/burning on the headers.
Engine wire harness (left side lower engine) rubbing/burning on the headers.
Engine wire harness (right side lower engine) rubbing/burning on the headers.

And last but not least, the friggin oil dip stick and tube just dangling/unsecured or mounted in a fashion that would make Mr. John Deere blush!

Can some one pleeeeeaaaaase! post photos of these areas in question?

Thanks,
Kevin

Ok, I just ordered a set of these also. If the fit is not correct--well I don't want to say what the results will be.

The last set of Kooks headers I owned was for a Mustang. The fit was TERRIBLE, I mean HORRIBLE. I had to heat and bend the headers to make them fit right, grind the motor mounts away/some of the frame, then they hung down WAY too low. When you talk to Kook's of course they never had this problem before. They blamed AFR for a canted exhaust surface. I admit they were 1-7/8" tubes, but still I expect perfection for that price.

From what I've been told, the C5 headers look a lot better, so I hope they fit right. Right now ,still skeptical.

I've heard nothing about great things about the new c5 headers. They're quality and construction are supposed to be great. Also, I heard that that they're the closest to "equal" length you can get. Another benefit is that they use flange connections instead of slip fit. I'm ordering a set this week and hope they're great.

427CPE, 90 out of 100 Mustang owners that run our headers have zero issues with our headers. When there's a problem it's usually due to engine location. Aftermarket K-members, solid or urethane mounts more times than not move the engine to different location. I'll bet the farm that this was your predicament, especially when you said our headers were low to the ground. Do you think we prototyped our headers to be low to the ground? That'll never happen. As far as our C5 headers and exhaust, the fit and finish is outstanding in every aspect. Nick "Kook's Headers"

Nick,

No excuses. I want 100 out of 100 for my C5's fit. I only have once chance at the intaller and I don't want to have to wait on delivery of a set of LG LT because yours don't fit right. Are they a perfect fit or not?

427CPE, The fit is outstanding. I'm sure those already running our headers will tell you the same. Nick "Kook's headers"

Nick, you should prolly include the instructions just so there isnt any confusion on getting the headers to slide in.

Excellent. Dave at CARTEK tells me you haven't shipped them yet. What day are you shipping them? I need them by Saturday else the rest of my install is delayed.
???

Thanks and I look forward to the power.
